Training Future Mentors: The Agency Prepares to Launch Its Internship Programme with the EU4Reconstruction (Stream 2) Support

Today, representatives of the Agency for Restoration and its wider ecosystem began training to support students throughout the Re:Generation internship programme. They will mentor selected participants, helping them adapt, contribute to real tasks, and take their first professional steps in infrastructure restoration.

“We are keen to engage more young people in the Agency’s ecosystem. We want students not simply to observe our work, but to become part of the team and take on real tasks. The mentors’ role is to help them make this first step in their careers,” said Ivan Lukeria, Deputy Head of the Agency for Restoration.

During the training, participants are exploring how to work effectively with interns, set clear tasks, provide constructive feedback, and support their professional development. The programme includes preparatory training for mentors, as well as supervision during their work with students and after the internships are completed.

“Attracting young professionals to the recovery sector is a real challenge. It is a complex field that is still surrounded by many misconceptions. We are supporting the Agency in engaging a new generation and showing that everyone can find their place in Ukraine’s restoration. A meaningful internship starts with well-prepared mentors who can help students adapt, navigate challenges, and gain genuine professional experience,” highlighted Iryna Kovalenko, Head of the Agency Capacity-Building Component at EU4Reconstruction (Stream 2).

The first stage of the internship programme, Re:Generation Camp, will begin in just a few days. Over three days, students will learn about the Agency’s work, visit recovery sites, meet professionals in the field, and work in teams on practical cases.

After the Camp, selected participants will move on to a two-month internship at the Agency for Restoration or one of its regional offices.

The Re:Generation programme is implemented by the Agency for Restoration with support from EU4Reconstruction (Stream 2).
